 Join us for GCSP Summer Launch 2025!

The Grand Challenges Scholars Program (GCSP) offers summer programming at the ASU Tempe campus for incoming first-year Grand Challenges Scholars in August. The GCSP Summer Launch provides newly admitted first-year Grand Challenges Scholars with the opportunity to build a community on campus and gain exposure to the Grand Challenges of Engineering related to the themes of Sustainability, Security, Health, and Joy of Living and ongoing research efforts at ASU before entering their first semester. Students will engage in hands-on experiences, research lab tours, panel sessions, and social activities, and interact with GCSP peers, faculty, and program staff (GCSP Directors, staff, and student counselors).   

Students that apply to the Grand Challenges Scholars Program and are admitted by June 20th will receive information on how to apply to the GCSP Summer Launch. The GCSP Summer Launch application process is a separate application from that of the Grand Challenges Scholars Program. Admission to the GCSP Summer Launch will be on a first-come, first serve basis and is subject to completion of all application materials and submitting waiver and $50 program fee.

Program learning objectives

  1. Learn about the Grand Challenges Scholars Program and opportunities to achieve the program outcomes (GCSP Competencies)
  2. Become familiar with the Grand Challenges for Engineering theme areas: Sustainability, Security, Health, Joy of Living 
  3. Observe and experience ongoing research/work at ASU in the Grand Challenge theme areas 
  4. Develop a sense of community with other students in the Grand Challenges Scholars Program 
  5. Meet faculty and staff, as well as learn about resources available to them in GCSP

    Program Dates and Schedule:  

    8/8/2025: Early Move-in and Welcome Dinner  

    8/9/2025-8/11/2025: Participation in E2 Camp #8  (Register for E2 Camp here) 

    8/11/2025: Evening Social Activities and Dinner  

    8/12/2025: Summer Launch Programming (8:30am-8:00pm) 

    8/13/2025: Summer Launch Programming (8:30am-4:00pm)
