ASU emeritus professor in the School of Engineering for Matter, Transport, and Energy, Dr. B.L. (Rama) Ramakrishna has been appointed Director of the NAE Grand Challenges Scholars Program (GCSP) Network by the National Academy of Engineering (NAE).
This new position is created in response to the expansion of GCSP in universities around the globe. As the National Academy of Engineering’s GCSP Network Director, Dr. Ramakrishna will continue to develop the growing GCSP network, conduct GCSP-related research, engage in community building efforts, outreach, and partner development.
During his time at ASU, Dr. Ramakrishna has worked to develop STEM programming both at ASU and in the community. In 2009, he launched ASU’s chapter of GCSP. In 2014, he established a Humanitarian Engineering Program at ASU. He has benefited the community by working with the Arizona Science Center on their programs and exhibits and strove to enhance STEM and research knowledge for K-12 teachers and students with his Graduate STEM Fellows in K-12 Education (GK-12) Project, Down to Earth Science.
In this new role, Dr. Ramakrishna has the opportunity to grow and build the Grand Challenge Scholars Program not only at ASU, but throughout the world.
