As a freshman engineer, Diana Chen didn’t know what to expect when she was accepted into the Freshman Fellows, an entrepreneurship and innovation program offered exclusively to freshmen. Entrepreneurship seemed like a big change from the usual math, science, and technical courses she was used to taking. Although she enjoys those classes, “on a whim I applied for the new Freshman Fellows program here, and I’m now a part of a diverse cohort of other freshman learning about the ins-and-outs of entrepreneurship and seeing how entrepreneurship can really impact society.”

E+I Freshman Fellows are individuals with a passion for innovation and an interest in entrepreneurship. The program is open to students of all majors. As Chen shares, “I’ve met a lot of truly amazing people who think about the world in a perspective that’s not so different from engineers because they see the world as it could be, not how it is.”

Since joining the program, Chen has continued to become an E+I Ambassador and plans on using the skills she learned from GCSP and Freshman Fellows to start her own business.
